QUEEN VICTORIA




















Victoria was the Queen regnant of the United KIngdom of Britain and Ireland (June 20, 1837). SHe was also the first Empress of India (May 1, 1876 until death). Her reign, at 63 years and 7 months, lasted longer than that of any other British monarchy and is the longest female monarchy in history. Her reign was also know was the Victorian Era. The Victorian Era was a period of industrial, cultural, political, scientific, and military process within the United Kingdom. 


Victoria was originally from a German family. SHe was the daughter of the 4th son of George III, Prince Edward, Duke of Kent and Strathearn. Both her father and grandfather died a year after her birth, therefore she took the throne at the age of 18 after her three brothers died. She became an iconic symbol of the nation and the empire. She controlled with an iron fist. Her reign was marked as the great expansion of Great Britain, which become the foremost global power.
